I just returned from my annual Thanksgiving trip to my son’s home. It is so amazing to see the leaps and bounds the little one makes in between our visits. While I miss so much of her life, today I was able to witness one of her firsts… the first time she said a new word.
I had a wonderful visit, even if my son’s favorite football team lost. I hope you too had a great holiday.
One of my favorite things about visiting my son and his family is the time we have to talk. Thursday night my daughter-in-law went to bed earlier than my son or I did so we had time to talk about his plans, where he is going with his career and personal things. We have always been close and the distance makes it hard for us to have our heart-to-heart conversations on a more regular basis.
The new chairs were immediately added to the dining room table
Now it’s time for some Friday love
There were so many wonderful articles I found this week online, before I left Wednesday so it’s now time to share those with you.
- First up, with Christmas coming up quickly now I’d like to share one from Pillows a la mode. Do you have children that you would like to start a new family tradition with on Christmas? Check out what Katerine does each Christmas to make the day more about spending time with each other.
- In the spirit of zero waste and making gifts that don’t hurt the pocketbook this holiday check out Katerine’s latest “What can you make from“ This time she made so many interesting items all from an embroidered jacket, with zero waste when finished. Yes, Katerine, you made my favorites list twice this week!
- This article I fould interesting from The Good Human. While this President is considered the poorest president in the world he’s not poor in his eyes. This article reminded me that just because we have an opportunity to earn more, doesn’t mean we have to spend it on material things.
- Wholey Jeans post called Trust Me is worth checking out. We can use a little reminder to reflect on how we view ourselves.
- How I got this far, gives a nice tutorial on how to avoid wrapping paper for small gifts.
- Intecoolochoberord shares how to make lovely crochet ornaments to add to your Christmas decor.
- The habits we form can help or hinder our lives. Many habits we do so automatically we don’t even realize we are doing them. Smart Living 365 shows you how to make your habits help your life.
- Are you looking to make less of an impact on the earth? Caitlin shares ways to green your life you could pick from any area on her list and those little things will add up quickly.
- On Down to Earth Style I found a gorgeous kitchen island made from a piece of furniture in such poor shape it was sitting out for the trash.
- And yes here is a second article from Down to Earth Style on making a burlap Christmas tree
- Do you like to crochet? Check out this tutorial on how to make a round mandala from Winkie Flash
- Green Conduct has a great article on the simpler way to creating a greener future.
- Tegan at Baby Earth Blog shared her letter she wrote to show us how easy it is to write to our leaders and ask for changes to benefit the environment.
- Want to see a list of the Top Ten gifts for this year, created by readers (possibly even you)? If you visit The High Note Dot Net you can add your favorite ideas for this Christmas gift giving. The final list will be completed and posted on December 7th.
- Want to win great gifts you can give to your loved ones this year? Check out the contest at Domestic Imperfection. Hurry you only have until November 25 th to enter.
- My list wouldn’t be complete without an article that made me laugh? this weeks humor winner is On The Home Front and Beyond. While a house fire would be devastating, take it from me who lost a home due to electrical fire, the way the story was told about the possible crisis that happened in this house is what gives it top honors in my humorous articles this week.
There you have it, a mixed bag as usual from how to save money this Christmas, to how not to burn down your kitchen. Happy reading everyone, I’d love to hear what articles you found this week that you found interesting. Have a great weekend.
Got no checkbooks, got no banks. Still I’d like to express my thanks – I’ve got the sun in the morning and the moon at night. ~~ Irving Berlin

That’s quite a list! When I have time I will check it out. Glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!
It is quite a list, I hope you find some time to check a few out and find a couple that will resonate with you.
thanks for thinking of us!
have a great weekend.
You are welcome, you have a great weekend as well.
What a lovely post! Thank you so much for sharing my blog posts, and I can’t wait to read all the rest! You’re a sweetie!!!
You are welcome. I shared your ideas of having a craft time during Christmas and both my daughters-in-law thought it was a great idea. We have decided that Christmas eve, which we have at my home, would be the time to do something with the children so that will now be part of our Christmas eve festivities at my home. I can’t thank you enough for the idea.
That makes my day!!!
It should you are quite the inspiration to so many!
glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got to catch up with your son–
Thank you for making me one of your featured posts–this is the first thing I read when I turned my laptop on, and it cheered me up immensely — it is 2:30 in the morning and I cannot sleep
The first thing you read? I’m honored. I’m glad it cheered you up and am glad you didn’t take offense that you made my top humorous post since it could have been a much worse situation for you.
I am glad it turned out humourous than otherwise–so sorry you experienced the otherwise
Your blog is one of my favourite “must reads”
Oh thank you!! Yes, losing almost everything was a lesson in life, I have always said it could have been worse, we all got out of the house with the dog safely that’s what was important.
cannot imagine what you went through–but you are right – as long as everyone got out safe and sound
Wonderful and very helpful posting. I was just thinking of what you said in a recent post about lightbulbs, that changing the lighbulbs was saving $200 per year.Quite something. But all the energy saved is the real benefit. Your blog is very valuable!
Thank you YePirate, isn’t it something that by saving money on the utilities I am also saving the natural resources of the planet. Sometimes doing the right thing for ourselves benefits the environment as well.
Thank you for sharing! You are so sweet!! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
We had a great Thanksgiving, you are more than welcome.
