What a year this has been. I began the year with a little blog that had near zero visits and absolutely zero comments for almost 6 months, then something happened and people began to embrace the ramblings they found here. My stats tell me I ended the year with 28,000 views. Thank you all so much for embracing me this way.
Here are the top 5 posts of 2012 in reverse order:
5. Let’s redefine poverty: This post was written from my heart. I shared the story of my amazing great-grandmother and how she sacrificed her wealth during the depression to save other people from a life of uncertainty in a trying time.
4. No stove, but I have a rice cooker: I was so used to having a stove, had one my entire life, until I made the move a year ago. Heidi at Lightly Crunchy mentioned she’d like to know how I used my rice cooker, so this post was written for her.
3. Remembering to be grateful: This was probably my shortest post yet. I was having a busy day and posted a quote on gratitude which started my month of gratitude inspired by Kathy of Smart Living 365
2. One lovely Blog Award: This was my first blogging award. I had no idea what to do with it. I wasn’t sure if this was some sort of chain letter in the blogging world, if I should write a post to go with it, or pretend I knew nothing about it (which I really didn’t). My thanks go to Heather at the Homestead at Spring Creek for my first introduction to awards.
And the most viewed post:
Warts of any kid, forget the doctor: It’s hard to believe a blog about simple living in a small space hit a nerve and had a post about healing warts (including plantar warts) would be my most viewed post of the year.

Congrats on a fine blogging year; I am glad you’re here!
Thank you, I am glad to have found you too.
I found your blog recently. I enjoy your writing and what you share on simple living. Happy New Year Lois.
Happy New Year to you too Mary, glad to have met you.
Happy New Year Lois! And funny, but I’m taking my rice cooker to work with me this week to make something for a potluck day.
Happy New Year, Heidi! What are you making in your rice cooker at work? I never thought about taking mine anywhere, I don’t know why as I have lugged my slow cooker all over.
Actually, just rice, I think – though I might heat some soup up in it too. I’m also taking a crockpot for some meatballs, so I thought rice would be a good accompaniment.
Meatballs always go over well around here, I’m sure everyone will enjoy. Happy New Year.
Congratulations on your expanding readership! Going big by going small
. I’m glad I found your site. I really enjoy the Saved From The Landfill section. It’s so much fun to imagine how to repurpose “trash”. Happy New Year from Annapolis, Maryland.
Happy New Year! I’m glad you enjoy my Saved from Landfill page. It felt like barely a few days were going by without my finding something so I thought I would keep a list to remind myself just how much I was contributing in my town and saving from trash pickup days.
Happy New Year my friend! May it be filled with light and love
Happy New Year Jackie, may your New Year be the best ever for you.
I am happy to have found your blog. I know what you mean about the posts. Every single day my post about making pastry is viewed by several people and I wrote in back in July 2011. I can only assume it has been re-blogged somewhere out there and people keep coming back. The stats are fascinating.
All the best for 2013.
Fairy, sorry I haven’t viewed that particular post of yours, but then I don’t look for cooking/baking posts specifically as I try, as much as possible, not to cook. The stats were fascinating I didn’t realize I would get a year end report like that. Good luck this new year.
It is strange because I don’t even amke that pastry anymore as I am following a gluten-free diet now!
How funny!
Happy New Year Lois! I’m looking forward to continuing to read your lovely blog in 2013.
Thank you so much. I enjoy your blog as well. Your artwork alone makes my day.
Happy New Year, Lois! And happy belated bloggoversary.
My husband was intrigued, that after nearly two years, I haven’t run out of things to say. Life just keeps providing inspiration, and it will for you too!
Happy New Year Bethany, I am surprised at how much easier it is to come up with ideas now than a month into the blog, life happens and I blog about it
I just recently found your blog and I LOVE it! So far I have spent my New Year’s Day relaxing on the couch (in my 500 sq. foot apt), drinking tea, and reading your blog posts. Although I am quite thrifty and love to repurpose things, I found lots of new great ideas and inspiration here on your blog. Thank you! Happy New Year to you and yours
Marci
Thank you Marci! I can’t wait to jump on over and read what you have, I love learning from new people. Happy New Year!!
